Why SRS – Parents

In April 2013, we asked the families of our students to let us know about why they send their children to St. Robert Catholic School.

Here’s what we learned.

  • Fifty-five families responded to our survey and offered 231 reasons for what motivated them to send their children to our school. Nearly all reasons could be grouped under three general themes: the academic program, the school environment, and the religion.
  • Thirty-eight percent of all families described motivations related to the academic program. They wrote about the importance of academic training, the rigor of the educational curriculum, the quality of the teachers, and the benefits of a small class size.
  • Thirty-two percent revealed motivations related to the school environment. With regard to the setting, they made references to the unity within our campus community, the security on school grounds, and the mutual care or respect shared by students, parents, and staff members.
  • Twenty-four percent identified with motivations related to the religious elements found within St. Robert School, such as the presence of faith, spirituality, or Catholic values.

No single response could ever take the place of experiencing all that St. Robert School has to offer. However, by the end of the day, each of us – as parents and educators – may know what is truly important. One family summed up their impressions with the following statement:

“All the teachers I have come into contact with are open and take the time to get to know you, listen to you, remember your name, and say hello... And the students all are known by name, which I think is awesome... If a child feels safe and liked..., then the ability to put down their guard...will definitely help the learning environment. I also know that my son is looked after... At St. Robert, I feel like we are a part of a family – not just an education system – and that everyone my son and I come into contact with wants the best for us....”
